Hotels in South of France, France

The South of France stretches from the Italian border to the Camargue, with a Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers (average 86°F/30°C) and mild winters (around 55°F/13°C). Famous for its lavender fields in Provence and glamorous beaches on the Côte d'Azur, you can swim in the Mediterranean at Nice or Cannes in July, while winter is ideal for touring Roman ruins in Arles or hiking the Alpilles. Inland, the lavender blooms from June to August in the Plateau de Valensole, while the coastal cities offer distinct promenades like the Promenade des Anglais in Nice and the Croisette in Cannes, each lined with century-old hotels and markets.
